Event Table Seating

Remember that time John Doel sat next to Amy Smith at the Gala and things got out of hand? Or that time we forgot to put Jim Grates at a table and he never donated again? Or that other time we put the divorced couple and their dates at the same table? Yuck, what a mess! Let's try avoid that next year, shall we?! Events are enough trouble without the extra hassle of onsite table seating. For anyone who's ever coordinated a gala dinner or a wedding, you know how important it can be to manage seating assignments. Well, if you're a nonprofit using the Click & Pledge Event Management product, we've got a table seating solution that should put your mind at ease.

Event Management with Click & Pledge

If you’re a nonprofit staffer, your hosted Events are a lot like celebrating a big family holiday or milestone birthday. The preparation, the planning, the logistics, the details and the stress are always underestimated and then it’s all over in a flash. Don’t get me wrong, the rewards are tremendous, but the labor required to successfully execute an event for your nonprofit is huge! We get it. Been there, done that.

In this post we’re going to talk about the functionality and value of a specific Event solution, but before we go there, let’s get something straight – there are MANY types of Events and no single technology can serve all types. No way, no how. For nonprofits there are mini-RSVP only events, there are big annual galas, there are volunteer activities, there are conferences, concerts, hikes, endurance events with fundraising attached, etc. etc. Seriously, calling all of these “Events” is dangerous because it assumes they all operate similarly, which is wrong, totally wrong.

A Fork in the Road

“Should I pick ___ app or ___ app for my needs with Salesforce? Or what about integrating with ___?” If I had a dime for every time I answered this question I’d finally be able to buy that fancy electric car I’ve been wanting.

Here’s an important tip. When it comes to using the Salesforce platform for your CRM needs, not all apps are created equal or even viable options. Salesforce is not an iPhone, this is a complex business platform that requires careful consideration.

The first and most important consideration is what we call your “flavor” of Salesforce. Think of this as the core application that governs how you will manage all contacts, donations and more. If you know me, you know I like to use the house analogy when describing Salesforce. Let’s break it down.

Introducing Fund Allocations SmartPack

Fund Allocations for Nonprofits

It’s no secret that at KELL Partners, we think the Nonprofit Starter Pack (NPSP) – especially with all the great improvements in version 3 – is pretty awesome. But there are some key areas of functionality that we felt were essential to an organization’s success on NPSP. This was especially true for organizations that were moving from Convio’s Common Ground.

We took the basic functionality in the Starter Pack and built our Fund Allocations SmartPack to address these often critical requirements:

  • Defining the different Funds an organization allocates gifts towards
  • Splitting donations to multiple Funds
  • Exporting transactions to a general ledger, such as QuickBooks
  • Once exported to general ledger, locking transactions in Salesforce from further editing
  • Allowing for a reversal process so posted transactions can be edited and then reposted
