I spent a lot of my younger life debating: I competed in policy debate in high school and college (Hook ‘em, Texas Longhorns!), and spent a decade coaching competitive teams and consulting with debate-focused nonprofit organizations. While my days of arguing for trophies are long past, I still have that passion for listening intently, developing strategies, and identifying the best solution available to a given obstacle. For nearly 15 years, I have worked exclusively in the nonprofit sector with organizations focused on expanding educational opportunities, fundraising and membership development. I love listening to dedicated employees describe their goals and the obstacles in their way because the debater in me still cherishes working hard to diagnose the root issue, compare the costs of all the options, and communicate the value of potential solutions.
What’s something you like about the Salesforce technology?
People work hard at nonprofits because they love making a difference. People generally don’t work at nonprofits because they love tedious, repetitive tasks. Salesforce isn’t just a collection of fancy spreadsheets; it’s a remarkable engine for automation and simple, code-free programming that can reduce a lot of the manual labor that is required to run an organization so staff, volunteers and constituents are able to focus on their skills and passions. I love working out new and innovative automations so that your Salesforce database is a truly customized workhorse that takes care of your unique requirements. Configuration is more than just adding logos and brand-related colors: your CRM should be a part of your team, doing processes that are tailored specifically for your organization.
